Travel for Valentine’s Day romantic getaway

Well, kids…it’s over. Valentine’s Day that is. Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that you either really love or loathe immensely. There is no middle ground. For that reason, I love hearing peoples’ reasons for why they hate or love Valentine’s Day. While some reasons are valid (getting left at the alter on Valentine’s Day 2001 – yikes!), others have me doubled over in laughs; as insensitive as that may sound. One of our readers told us that he’s been hating Valentine’s Day since his handwritten Valentine’s Day letter was rejected by the love of his life. This happened at the tender age of 5 and since then, his heart has developed an impermeable wall of ice.

But when I think of Valentine’s Day, I think of romantic getaways. I never HAVE to receive any gifts but if my husband really wanted to win some cool points, a Valentine’s Day mini-vacay to Savannah, Georgia would totally rock my world. I’ve highlighted Savannah, Georgia on the Hotel Coupons blog before so I’m sure that location didn’t come as a surprise. But think about it…you and yours bunk at a comfortable bed and breakfast. You two have lunch at a darling diner and head out to the harbor to watch the ships come in. A gentle breeze chills you and so you make your way to Savannah’s Candy Kitchen and inhale the mouth-watering armoa of homemade candy apples, truffles and peanut brittle. Hand in hand, the two of you venture into local antique shops and stores. Shortly after dinner, a Ghost Tour ends your evening of sheer relaxation and elation.

Ahhh yes, I just crafted my ideal Valentine’s Day romantic getaway. Remind me to email this blog post to my husband, will ya? ;)

I also love Savannah and can’t think of many other destinations quite as perfect for a couple. I loved a trip I took in Sleepy Hollow, NY.
